What Makes Alpha Omega Christian Counseling Unique?

We have a fully credentialed, highly qualified staff who all sign our Christian Statement of Faith. AOCC offers a variety of treatment options including psychiatric and counseling services.

What Questions Will I Be Asked Over the Phone?

You will be asked basic identifying information such as name, address, date of birth, and two phone numbers where you can be reached during the day or evening.  Our Intake team is familiar with each of the counselor’s credentials, participating insurance panels, and areas of specialty (addiction counseling, marriage counseling, etc.). Therefore, we will ask you to outline the basic problem areas and why you are seeking our services. You may be asked if you have any presenting health problems, what types of medications you are currently taking, if you are experiencing sleep or appetite problems. We try not to be too intrusive over the phone and our intention is only to match you with the counselor best able to meet your needs.

We will also ask you about your health insurance coverage. We will need to know the name of your insurance company (Anthem Blue Cross, United Health Care, etc.), your subscriber I.D. number, and the phone number listed on your card for health providers to call. It is imperative that we contact your insurance company prior to your first visit in order to have your benefits correctly in our computer system for proper billing. In addition, many insurance companies now require your visits with a counselor to be “pre-certified” or “authorized” before the first visit takes place. If the visit is not authorized, your insurance company may not pay the bill and you will be responsible for payment (we don’t want this to happen providing us with the proper information at the time the appointment is made is important to all of us)! We may ask you for your Social Security Number, as some insurance companies will not verify information for us unless we give them that critical piece of identifying information. Please know that your personal information is important to us and we will take all precautions to protect your privacy.

Do You Work With Insurance Companies For Reimbursement?

Yes. We work with the major insurance carriers in most of the communities we serve. When you call to make an appointment, we will get your insurance information and contact your insurance company to verify your benefits. In most cases a co-pay is all that is required after your deductible has been met. We encourage you to contact your insurance company as well to verify the information we obtain.

What If I Don't Have Insurance?

You have three choices. First, you can choose to see any one of our doctors or counselors - provided they are taking new patients - and pay privately. If this is not financially possible, a few of our staff members do take new clients on “sliding scale” fees. However, you must complete a financial disclosure form and provide proof of your income/need with a copy of your current tax return and the most current payroll stubs you have supporting your monthly income. 

How Do I Know If I Need Medications?

In most cases, clients are referred to your doctor for medication management by their primary physician or their counselor. However, if you are suffering under the weight of relentless symptoms and feel that you need to discuss medication options, simply call our office and request an initial appointment with our psychiatrist. Your first appointment will be one hour long. Each subsequent appointment will be 15-20 minutes; frequency of these visits varies from patient to patient.

Please note that most medications require regular visits with the doctor. If you do not keep your scheduled appointments, you may jeopardize your medication refills. Please make every effort to keep your appointments with the doctor.

How Do I Know Which Counselor Is Right For Me?

Our Intake Department will attempt to match you with the counselor that best fits your situation. Typically the primary factors involved in our matching process include insurance paneling, schedule compatibility, fee structure, counselor specializations, and gender. Sometimes the best counselor for your needs is not on your insurance panel and you will need to decide if seeing someone “out of network” is in your best interest.
